Description: Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Bahrain, Yemen, and Syria. The year 2011 saw unrest sweep the Arab world from Northern Africa to the Middle East. Popular uprisings, mass protests, violent oppression, and international intervention led to the downfall of several long-standing rulers and the emergence of new politics and new leaders. In the wake of the series of revolutions known as the « Arab Spring, » Guy Sorman and Bret Stephens will discuss the outcomes for the region and explore whether the results of these various popular uprisings are moving these countries toward a more democratic future.
